Repairing spalling

Spalling on horizontal surfaces is a serious safety hazard and should be addressed immediately. Use a comprehensive repair method to prevent recurring spalling. Often, this involves resurfacing. This involves removing damaged concrete, preparing the surface and then applying new concrete. Resurfacing prevents future spalling and prevents spalling from happening again.

Filling cracks

Liquid sealers can be used to fill cracks in concrete patios. Liquid filler can be difficult to use for large cracks. You can use epoxy resin, or another type liquid sealer, to fill these cracks. Smaller cracks, known as hairline cracks, can be sealed with water sealer or penetrating stain. Acrylic sealant is another option, which will make the repairs invisible to the eye.

Resealing expansion joints

To reseal cracks in concrete, the first step is to clean the area around the crack. To remove excess, use a commercial solvent or a citrus-based cleaner. You should also remove loose dirt and pebbles. Apply the expansion sealant to the crack after cleaning the joint. It will dry tack-free once it dries.

Resurfacing of patio’s top

There are many easy and inexpensive ways to fix a cracked concrete patio. One of these options is to resurface it. This is often done using a product called veneering. A veneered patio will look brand new and won’t attract cracks in the future. However, you have to be sure that the product is applied according to instructions. This is a time-consuming process, so be sure you’re confident in your skills and equipment before you get started.
